Narmada park was an unexpected gold-mine of peace and tranquility. Climbing the steps through the split gates that frame so many of the beautiful buildings here in Indonesia, led us into a Hindu temple, where people sat cross legged on the floor. We were invited to sit by their side, where we were treated to a Hindu prayer ceremony, blessed with holy water, and endowed with flowers in our hair. Finally, rice was placed on our foreheads as symbols of our the hopes and prayers we held within our minds. After the ritual, we wandered around the park itself, taking in the green waters of the lakes, and the coconuts laying heavily in the trees all around us. Passing underneath another intricate arch way led us to the huge water pipes that span the length if the park. The pipes create great slopes that have thousands of steps rising up towards the water source, and it is worth the climb to sit at the top and see the spectacular view below.
