We are in AUSTRALIA!! this trip had been a long time coming, especially for my parents who have waited 30 years to meet our family out here. I'm excited to meet them further down in Brisbane, but for now we are up in Darwin, in preparation for our tour of ularu, which in the indigenous language means 'meeting place'. We checked into the hostel and helped ourselves to a massive serving of breakfast, before disappearing into our rooms for some much needed sleep. And what else could we do upon waking, other than get into the pool of course! The best thing about Aus is that everywhere out here has a pool we can relax around and jump in to, to escape the heat of day. In the evening, we went out with everyone from the hostel to a pizza bar, and ate lots of yummy food, played beer pong, and danced up on the stage to all sorts of different music. Travelling is all about new experiences and learning different cultures, but it's actually really nice to be somewhere that feels more like home. Western food, similar shops, and of course that gorgeous Aussie accent! It feels like an easy place to get along with, and I'm looking forward to getting out of the cities and into some of the wilderness spreading its fingers all over this land.
