And when I say the world, I mean lots of planes and hours passing time in airports. The journey here was tough. Going through Chinese customs was the most complicated experience, especially when we got lost in the wrong terminal and couldn’t find a single person who spoke English. When we did eventually end up in the right place, the flight and the lack of sleep left me arriving in Japan feeling like I had been hit by a bus.
But here we are! We made it, we survived, and we now find ourselves in the middle of Osaka, one of Japan’s smaller cities. Its busy and bustling (which makes me nervous to see how hectic Tokyo is) and we wandered through the streets which look exactly like the drawings we have seen in Japanese anime. There are vending machines every couple of miles selling colourful selections of grapefruit soda and peach cola, alongside tako yaki stalls and Mini-marts where we brought some Japanese sweets to try. For now, we are off to see the city, and begin a journey that has been a life time in the making.
