This is the Hokkaido I was waiting to see! Coming up here was supposed to drop us right into the mountains, in the midst of the national parks, and instead we were met with flowers that hadn't yet bloomed, and attractions that had not yet opened due to a colder winter this year. Just a week later, and our timing would have been perfect.
But, our last day in sapporo was worth the wait, and the unexpected disappointments along the way. We finally got to see the beautiful scenery and picturesque landscapes we had journeyed this far for. To see the vast lake, with an incredible mountain scape behind it filled me with elation, and we walked all across the beautiful beach to get the best angle. This gives me high hopes for Canada, the last stop on our world travels, because I can't wait to see mountains like this close up in a few months time.
