An inspiring tale of love and loyalty; Hachi the Akita accompanied his owner every morning on his way to work and left his house in time to meet him every evening at Shibuya Station so that they could journey home together. One time when Hachi went to the station he was waiting for hours before his master's wife collected him. His master had died suddenly of a heart attack one day at work. Hachi still waited, every day for the next ten years he sat in the same spot, waiting for a master that couldn't return to take him home. Eventually old age catches up with everyone.
One night whilst Hachi was waiting at the station he slipped into sleep and dreamt that his master had finally arrived to take him home. When Hachi died at the station, the people grieved, so moved were they by his devotion. To this day, a memorial of him stands where he spent all those years, waiting to be reunited with his closest friend. It was important to us that we went to pay our respects to his commemoration, to prove that one simple act of loyalty can inspire us to hold on to the important things in life.
